Message from Officer Joe Cieri of Springfield, New Jersey
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Joe Cieri, and I am a Police Officer in the Township of Springfield, N.J. This year I will be participating in the 2007 Police Unity Tour, It is scheduled for May 9th through the 12th. The tour is an annual 300 plus mile bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington D.C. by law enforcement officers. Our purpose is to raise awareness for officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice, serving and protecting their respective communities. Nearly 1,000 riders from all parts of the country join us for the ride.
This is my 5th year participating in the tour and I the honor and privilege of bearing a bracelet representing fallen Officer Jeremy Chambers. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of the Cahokia Police Department. The bracelets we bear are used as reminders and inspiration during the police Unity Tour.
Upon completion of the tour, I would like to turn over the bracelet to the family of Officer Chambers. In doing so I hope a small amount of comfort and pride is generated by the Cahokia Police Department and especially the family of Officer Chambers. I want the family to know that his sacrifice touched the life of a fellow officer from New Jersey. From what I found out about Officer Chambers I know that he is greatly missed by all.
--Officer Joe Cieri
